- 1 cup kosher salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 gallon water
- 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 bay leaf
Anweisungen
- In a large pot, combine water, salt, and sugar. Stir until dissolved.
- Add peppercorns, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, and bay leaf. Mix well.
- Remove from heat and let the brine cool completely.
- Place the turkey in a large container or brining bag.
- Pour the cooled brine over the turkey. Ensure it is fully submerged.
- Refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours.
- Remove turkey from brine and rinse under cold water.
- Pat dry and prepare for cooking.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add citrus slices or fresh herbs to the brine.
- Adjust the brining time based on turkey size.
- Do not salt the turkey after brining, as it may be too salty.
