- 1 whole turkey (14–16 pounds)
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups chopped onions
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 6 cups bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 cups chicken broth
Anweisungen
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and celery. Cook until soft.
- In a large bowl, combine bread crumbs, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
- Add the cooked onion and celery mixture to the bread crumb mixture.
- Gradually add chicken broth until the stuffing is moist but not soggy.
- Stuff the turkey with the mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
- Roast for about 3-4 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove the foil in the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

- Ensure the turkey is thawed before cooking.
- Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
- Leftover turkey can be used in sandwiches or soups.
