- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups chopped celery
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 4 cups bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and rinsing it inside and out.
- In a large skillet, melt half the butter and sauté the celery and onion until soft.
- Add sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet.
- Mix the sautéed vegetables with the bread crumbs.
- Stuff the turkey with the bread crumb mixture.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and brush with remaining butter.
- Pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Roast the turkey for approximately 3 to 4 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
