A deliciously satisfying classic burger inspired by Whataburger’s famous patty melt.


Zutaten

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices of Texas toast
  • 4 slices of American cheese
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Anweisungen

  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Form the ground beef into 2 patties, season with salt and pepper.
  4. In the same skillet, cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, adding a slice of cheese on top during the last minute.
  5. In another skillet, melt the remaining butter and toast the Texas toast until golden brown.
  6. Assemble the patty melt by placing a patty with cheese on one slice of toast, adding caramelized onions, then topping with another slice of toast.
  7. Cook the assembled sandwich on medium heat until both sides are golden brown.
  8. Slice and serve hot.
