A classic Thanksgiving turkey recipe that will impress your guests.
Zutaten

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Place fresh herbs inside the cavity of the turkey.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the roasting pan.
- Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and roast for 2-2.5 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for another 30-60 minutes until golden brown.
- Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Make sure to baste the turkey every 30 minutes for moisture.
- Let the turkey sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
