A delicious smoked turkey recipe for Thanksgiving.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 lemon, halved
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme)
- Wood chips (hickory or applewood)
Anweisungen
- Preheat your smoker to 225°F.
- Rinse the turkey and pat it dry.
- Rub the turkey with olive oil.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon halves and herbs.
- Place the turkey in the smoker.
- Add wood chips to the smoker.
- Smoke the turkey for about 30 minutes per pound.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F.
- Let it rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Brining the turkey overnight adds flavor.
- Experiment with different wood chips for unique flavors.
- Keep the smoker closed as much as possible for even cooking.
