A simple and flavorful roasted tomato sauce.
Zutaten

- 2 pounds ripe tomatoes
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut the tomatoes in half and place them cut-side up on a baking sheet.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
- Roast for 30-40 minutes until tomatoes are soft and slightly caramelized.
- In a pot, heat some olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Remove the tomatoes from the oven and transfer to the pot.
- Simmer for 10 minutes, then stir in the fresh basil.
- Blend the sauce until smooth, then serve or store.
Notes
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Freeze leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3 months.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
