Zutaten

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Anweisungen

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
  4. Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey and under the skin.
  5. Stuff the turkey with lemon and onion quarters.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  7. Cover the turkey with aluminum foil.
  8. Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
