- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- Fresh herbs for stuffing (optional)
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and fresh herbs if using.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the pan.
- Cover the turkey with aluminum foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
- Remove foil in the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature, it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Thaw the turkey in the refrigerator if frozen.
- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
