A simple recipe for traditional Russian tea cakes, also known as snowballs or Mexican wedding cookies.

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add the flour, salt, and nuts. Mix until combined.
- Shape the dough into small balls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the bottoms are lightly golden.
- Let them cool slightly on the baking sheet.
- Roll the warm cookies in powdered sugar and allow to cool completely.
- Roll in powdered sugar again before serving.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to substitute different nuts.
- Adjust baking time for desired crispness.
