  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cups stuffing (optional)

Anweisungen

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey neck and giblets, then rinse the turkey under cold water.
  3. Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  4. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  5. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
  6. Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and stuffing if using.
  7. Place the turkey in a roasting pan, breast side up.
  8. Pour vegetable broth into the bottom of the pan.
  9. Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  10. Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally.
  11. Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
  12. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
  13. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
