A classic turkey recipe for Thanksgiving.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 tablespoon dried sage
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 cups stuffing (optional)
Anweisungen
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey neck and giblets, then rinse the turkey under cold water.
- Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and stuffing if using.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan, breast side up.
- Pour vegetable broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
- Roast for about 2.5 to 3 hours, basting occasionally.
- Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes to brown the skin.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.

- Consider brining the turkey overnight for added moisture.
